New Product Reviews
With over 40,000 products in the average supermarket, people don't have time (or the money) to test every product on the shelves – so we do it for you!
Each week we will post the latest reviews and I hope you will log in to see what’s hot…and what’s not!
Each product is judged and taste-tested based on the following seven criteria:
1. (30 points) Taste: The most important attribute of any food
2. (20 points) Value: Is it worth it?
3. (15 points) Health: Based off the nutritional information, is it nutritionally balanced?
4. (15 points) Ingredients: What's in it, how natural is it?
5. (10 points) Preparation: When applicable, how accurate or good are the directions?*
6. (5 points) Appearance: Is it appetizing and does it resemble its photo or description?
7. (5 points) Packaging: Is it appropriate for the product and does it have any benefits such as reseal ability, added freshness, better storage, etc?
*Products that do not require any preparation will have the full value of these points included in their total score.
Corazonas Cilantro Salsa Fresca Tortilla Chips

The delicious flavor of these chips comes from a blend of fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, and cilantro flavors. We were surprised to find that the flavor didn't have a veggie/spinach taste to them, being that they use plant based ingredients. These chips are trans fat free, and the whole oats and plant sterols in the ingredients make this product a good choice for those looking to keep their cholesterol down. Retails for $2.99/7-oz bag.

Syzmo Organic Energy Drink Passion
| Taste | Value | Health | Ingredients | Prep | Appearance | Packaging | Total |
| 22 | 14 | 10 | 12 | n/a | 3 | 3 | 74 |
A lot of energy drinks get a bad wrap for the ingredients. But this one, we'd like to praise for not only using organic ingredients, but also they use blue agave. Most people immediately associate blue agave with tequila, but actually it is a wonderful low-Glycemic sweetener. Compared to other energy drinks, this one is a little better tasting. Despite the 24 g of carbs, the company claims that this drink is low on the Glycemic index, which we think most consumers will find confusing. Something else to keep in mind, if you consume the whole 12-oz can, that's 120 mg of caffeine, which is equal to three cups of coffee, so if you're not used to that much of a jolt, drink cautiously. Retails for $2-$4/12-oz can.

Swiss Miss with Calcium Pick-Me-Up Hot Cocoa Mix
| Taste | Value | Health | Ingredients | Prep | Appearance | Packaging | Total |
| 26 | 15 | 11 | 12 | 9 | 4 | 4 | 81 |
With as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, plus as much calcium and vitamin D as a glass of milk, this hot chocolate from Swiss Miss makes a suitable alternative to coffee if you're looking for something with chocolate-y flavor. You will be looking at 110 calories, but compare that to a cafe mocha at most coffee shops, and you'd be looking at saving almost 200 to 300 calories. These hot chocolate packs can be mixed with coffee as well for a chocolate/coffee drink. Retails for $2.69/eight 1-oz pouches.

Brain TonIQ

This product qualifies technically as a supplement, therefore the federal labeling laws are a little bit different. And you won't find this in the beverage section of your local store, you'll find it in the nutritional supplement section. Most important thing to keep in mind is that supplements are not tested or authorized by the FDA before they are marketed. Our first impression of this product is that it claims to contain nothing but pure herbs and natural compounds, but they don't tell us what these herbs are or what they do. Is the name of the product supposed to suggest it's good for our brain? On top of those unanswered questions, we also found this drink to have an extremely strong, artificial odor and taste. Retails for $2.59/8.4-oz can.

Muscle Milk Ready-to-Drink Chocolate Milk
Here's what Sandra Bowen, from Janesville, Wisconsin, has to say about this product: "I tried the Atkins low carb diet when it was a craze, so occasionally still buy some low carb milk drinks -- I had a coupon for this product and decided to try it. First, Vanilla was TERRIBLE so decided to try the chocolate to see IF it's any better. No luck -- tends to have what I call a "medicine" taste? Would LOVE your opinion on it? Maybe I should try the mint chocolate and see if that's any better? It SURE has a lot of ingredients in it or rather supplements?" Retails for $7.99/pack of four 11-fl oz shakes.
