PHIL LEMPERT is The Supermarket Guru®

Phil Lempert, known as the "Supermarket Guru," is a correspondent and food trends editor for NBC News' Today Show, where he reports on consumer trends, new products, food safety and money-saving tips.
When he's not appearing on TV news programs across the country or holding speaking engagements, he's hosting Lime Radio's "Before You Bite," a weekly live call-in show broadcast on Sirius Satellite Radio. Lempert is the founder and editor of two monthly e-publications, Xtreme Retail 23 and Facts, Figures, & the Future, as well as a published book author. His most recent titles include Being the Shopper: Understanding the Buyer's Choice and Healthy, Wealthy, & Wise: The Shopper's Guide for Today's Supermarket.
Now a resident of California, Lempert traces his roots to a dairy farm in Belleville, New Jersey, owned by his grandfather. He was introduced to the food industry early on, checking the supermarket shelves with his dad as a child, working at McDonald's during high school and, after graduating from Drexel University with a degree in marketing and retail management, going to work for his family's food brokerage firm. To help food companies better understand consumer needs, Lempert began publishing the biweekly newsletter "The Lempert Report" and became a spokesperson for food consumerism.
